The Annual Bowling match between Melrose and Dalkeith No. 10 was recently held at Tweedbank Indoor Bowling Club, and it proved to be victorious for Melrose by 52 shots to 49.   Not having won this fixture for a number of years, playing indoors away from the wind, rain and wormcasts which often have a major say in outdoor matches, Melrose in triumph, regained the Brotherstone Rose Bowl.   Depleted numbers meant that the game was played as one rink and two triples over eighteen ends, with Melrose helping out Dalkeith by ‘lending’ them some players.   What was encouraging however was seeing newcomers playing for Melrose and the return of a couple of brethren who have been unable to attend in recent times.   After the game a fine Harmony was held with a good meal and plenty banter.   Having been such a success, playing indoors just might be the way to encourage more brethren to take part in the future.Bowling 2011
